Fabrics made in Italy  shouldn’t  be only beautiful and fashion BUT the production must respect the environment and people. We endorse the commitment Detox because it can stimulate the entire supply chain to make important strides in sustainable fashion.

In order to achieve this important result Besani srl has undertaken a concrete collaboration activity with its suppliers. In fact we are convinced that with a synergistically effort only, activated by all the parties in the supply chain, it is possible to realize a sustainable and ethical fashion.

Our vision

Besani srl was founded in 1969 on initiative of three partners, where still two of them are present and active in the company.

From the beginning it got specialised in designing and manufacturing of high quality knitted cotton fabrics particular destined to clothing for leisure and sports (polo, t-shirt, golf wear).

Product quality means absence of defects and pilling, perfect tightness of the fabric during use and washing, reduction of discard and re-elaboration, full customer’s satisfaction. This result was achieved due to a lot of factors: the choice of the best silk and cotton yarn (also guaranteed by the trademark Filo di Scozia) and the constant set up of production machines, the step by step monitoring on raw material, semi-finished and finished products to certification strategies. Anyway, all this has a fundamental condition base: the collaboration between the staff and the constant dialogue between the company, its suppliers and its customers, who we consider our daily work partner.

This approach has contributed to the success Besani srl has obtained over the years and has allowed us to develop trust relationships with important Italian and foreign brands.

40% of the turnover is in fact made abroad and in particular in China and the United States.

 

Why we choose sustainability as a business strategy.

Besani srl. expresses as many other companies in the sector, the culture of the made ​​in Italy that the world appreciates and recognizes and which has as an indispensable reference point the respect of the final consumer. We have been reflecting since some time how we can do business without burdening the environment irreversibly, how we can reduce the consumption of resources, waste, emissions without renouncing to provide the fashion world with beautiful and innovative fabrics.

In order to obtain these results we have operated on several fronts. For example we choose less energy technologies and we use machines “dated” of new generation systems but able to guarantee the best performing result.

In the selection of our suppliers we don’t adopt the logic of the cost advantage but we privilege the sharing of common aims, trust and where possible geographical proximity.

We believe that sustainability is also the result of small everyday actions such as the choice of recycled office materials or from renewable sources and the constant attention to energy savings.

Furthermore our products have also obtained important certifications as Oeko-tex standard 100 and the TF tracking system of Italian Chamber of Commerce  – Unionfiliere. (PAGE 1 e PAGE 2)

 Our social commitment

Producing safe fabrics for the consumer with low environmental impact (OEKO-TEX STeP CERTICIATE) but without giving up aesthetics and performance, is certainly a priority. This objective can be achieved only with the cooperation of the employees of the company, external collaborators and suppliers. The management system of Besani (unaudited but documented) is based on the requirements of the standards UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and SA8000.

However, a company is also an active subject on the territory where it operates. Having dialogues and support the voluntary activities of individuals committed in the defence of socially disadvantaged people, collaborating with local training centres are moments which qualify our company4.

 How we communicate our commitment for sustainability

A sustainable fashion can only come from the collaboration of all the people in the supply chain, that’s why it is necessary to collaborate synergistically and communicate objective information about the sustainable features of a product and production processes. Consequently we engage ourselves in our communications to use terms and data which correspond to concrete and documented facts thus avoiding green washing, i.e., statements that refer to ecological values ​​that aren’t proven by facts.

Therefore we have joined the Catalogue of Fabrics and Sustainable Accessories developed by sustainability-lab which presents the visitors of Milano Unica the companies using an objective and documented language.

The principle of transparency is also applicable in the records, to be consulted in the session Detox on our site where there are the documents, issued by third party institutions which confirm the absence of hazardous chemicals in our products.

 Business management

Besani occupies 30 employees and relies on the collaboration of external consultants for the carrying out of specific activities (design and development of collections, support to business strategies, management and administrative control).
